Ode to my shoes, that bus, and tea in the orchard!

As I've mentioned, cycling is the way to get around the city. Before we left the U.S., I happened to buy a pair of shoes that fasten (rather adorably) with velcro, as opposed to laces. I wasn't aware that this would be an entirely genius move on my part: I will never have to fear that my shoe laces will get tangled in the pedals of my bike. (insert trimphant laugh here)

I forgot to share a funny anecdote: the second or third day we were in Cambridge, one of our students got hit by a bus. Literally. He obviously survived and came away mostly unscathed, but the bus hit his arm, which hit his face, which turned out to be rather sore the next day. I can't believe I forgot to tell the story! (sorry, Wood) :)

This Sunday was oddly warm and cloudless, so the lot of us cycled a couple miles to Grantchester Orchard House for outdoor tea. It was wonderful! It's got some interesting history, and has had more famous visitors to tea than any other place in England, so they say. It was here that I had my first real English scone with clotted cream...though real English tea has been at our disposal since day one at Westfield House. We even have community tea on Mondays, which is fun...we all take turns making tea and providing various refreshments. Curate Jaime (he pronounces it the Anglicized way) and his wife & daughters made us English tea and fruit salad... with American hotdogs. :)
