The Journey

We have arrived in one piece, and seem to be battling jetlag very well! We left California via LAX and flew very smoothly nonstop to Heathrow on Air New Zealand (Jaime and Kelly rate this airline as thoroughly exceptional, by the by), then took a bus to the bus depot in Cambridge, then took a taxi to Westfield House itself. Suffice it to say, it was a long and tiring trip! However, not getting more than an hour of sleep or so apiece (what? the flight had 84 movies to choose from!) we turned in around 7:30 pm GMT.

The house is fairly large, and accomodates about 10 graduate students at the moment (including myself), with more to come. There is another building next door that houses 16 undergraduate students from Valporaiso University, though we haven't met them yet.

Today was spent in the heart of Cambridge, and we saw many of the colleges that make up Cambridge University. They are absolutely gorgeous buildings, pictures will come soon. Next on our agenda is the procurement of Euro rail passes, which will enable us to travel most anywhere we want to see without paying for each trip. We'll be looking into those soon and seriously, because it would be fairly idiotic to not take full advantage of being in Europe by traveling extensively.

Glad you two got there safely! Traveling Europe is a must while you're over there. If you don't make Paris a priority, I will be HIGHLY disappointed! (Tom's vote is for Salzburg). My advice? Just cram in everything you can - cost be damned. It's a once in a lifetime experience!!! Love you!
